Heavy Snowflakes

Filmed in Kirkkonummi, a small town 30 kilometers from Helsinki, when the first snow was falling. I filmed the portrait of my parents in a landscape which created a space separating and connecting me with the camera and my subject. Only the local cars drive on the road which is isolated from the motorway by a thin slice of forest and a field. You can hear the sounds of a highway and airplanes in the distance. The walking couple is accompanied by a piano version of a Lutheran hymn, which describes a child’s belief in the existence of a higher authority.
